Have you ever been stung? I don’t mean by a bee.. I mean by a persons words?
Have you been accused of something that is so far beyond who you are and does not align with your character? Something that truly baffles you that it was actually spoken about you? That someone could even say such hurtful and hateful words about you?
Well it happened to us yesterday. And by a stranger!! Why oh why did it affect us so negatively? I wish the negativity hadn’t gotten into our home - but it did.
The good news is, I do know why it all happened and being able to call that out and go to God's words last night together was EXTREMELY helpful in helping us move forward from the rough time we experienced.
Why it happened - the enemy HATES us and he is the accuser. The enemy despises the work we are doing to bring glory to God to those that God has assigns us to. And the enemy will use strangers.. even family and friends for that matter.. to try and bring us down to shut us up.
Guess what? He will do it to you too - if you are living your purpose of glorifying God in this life. If you are living and speaking truth - regardless of the enemies take on the matter - the enemy will want to shut you up.
And then God showed up this morning, as He does. The first thing I do in the morning is read the verse of the day in the you version app. Ahh what a reminder to confidently press forward despite what tries coming against you: “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58
I was so excited to see it, I woke my husband up just to share it! I knew the truth of God’s word would bring him comfort and overshadow the feelings he may still have lingering from last night.
So yes, we will continue on, and not be moved by others accusations.
And inspired from my guided meditation (encountering peace) on the scripture - we will continue to offer peace, speak words of healing, we will continue to forgive, and to love... even to those who bring the sting. Because above our feelings, we want to bear much fruit here and in the life to come... and because we want to continue encountering God.
